SOUTH KOREAN SCIENTISTS CLONED CATS THAT GLOW

South Korean scientists just announced their breakthrough in cloning field on Friday, December 14, 2007. They were successfully cloning three Turkish Angora cats that can glow red when exposed to ultraviolet rays in the dark. One of the three cloning cats died at birth but the other twos survived. This was the first time cats had been cloned and for the reason that they have similar genes to those of human, this breakthrough is expected to lead to new cures for genetic diseases.

Reflection question 12/14/07

I've finished the 6.1 to 6.3 assignment today. However, I got stuck in developing my code for the exercise, I put:

Dim intInteger As Integer = Val(Me.txtInteger.Text)
Do While intInteger > 1
intInteger = intInteger - 1
Loop
MessageBox.Show(intInteger)
MessageBox.Show("HaPPy NeW YeaR!!!")

As it turned out that the program did not work as it should have done, I noticed that there was something wrong with my code. The problen was, after clicking the button, the message box displayed only number 1. So I mad a change in my code, then, it became:

Dim intInteger As Integer = Val(Me.txtInteger.Text)
Do While intInteger > 1
intInteger = intInteger - 1
MessageBox.Show(intInteger)
Loop
MessageBox.Show("HaPPy NeW YeaR!!!")

It worked!

Asteroid Shower

According to NASA, there's going to be an asteroid shower on Friday Dec. 14th 2007. And we need to make ourselves look at the sky on Thursday evening, around 10 pm local time and be patient because the show is not reaching its climax until midnight and Friday dawn. You should not miss such a beautiful shower, advised Cooke - a NASA agent.

Reflection question 12/6/07

What problems did you encounter while developing your solution? How do you plan to overcomethem?/How did you overcome them?

I almost finished my project when I realized there was something incorrect with my code for after entering 30 words, my story appear but the words I had entered, unfortunately, did not show up. I was really confused because the code seemed pretty good to me at that time. However, finally, I concluded the mistake must have to do with the scope of variables. I had declared them local so I try to put those as global variables and it worked. Because when I declared them as local, they would be reseted everytime I click the button, that's why they need declaring global.

Reflection question 12/5/07

Are there any specific tips you would give to someone else tackling the same problem? How would what you suggest benefit that person in solving the problem?

Have you ever got into a problem taht has nothign to do with your code but your label? I have, while doing the madlibs project, I had a label in which my story will appear. However, because the story was pretty long so when it appear, I could only see a part of it and I was trying to resize the label. This's the point, if you want to resize your labels, you cannot just enter the new sizeFirst, you have to go to its property and then go to Autosize option and choose false. Now you are able to make your labels any size you want it to be.
